Choose the right nautical function.
Timekeeping, ship’s bells and tide displays serve different purposes.
How does a ship’s bell clock chime?
A ship’s bell clock follows a watchkeeping sequence of up to eight bells across a four-hour watch. It does not simply count the hour like a household striking clock. Check the model for its movement and silence controls.
Is a time-and-tide clock different?
Yes. A tide display indicates the tide cycle rather than sounding ship’s bells. Suitability and adjustment depend on the model and location. Use official local tide information for navigation and water safety.
