Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Just A Clock Collector is an authorized seller for respected clock, timepiece, nautical, and specialty manufacturers including Hermle, Comitti, Weems & Plath, Kieninger, Sternreiter, Rombach & Haas, Mauthe, MMM, and NeXtime.
Factory-new products are sold as new current-production items unless the listing specifically identifies the product as vintage, antique, pre-owned, or New Old Stock. Most new Hermle clocks ship directly from Hermle. Products from our other brands are fulfilled through their respective authorized manufacturer and U.S. distribution channels.
Applicable factory-new products include manufacturer warranty coverage according to the terms of the individual brand. Warranty length, coverage, and service procedures vary by manufacturer and product. The applicable warranty information will be provided on the product page or the corresponding warranty page when available.
Vintage, antique, pre-owned, and New Old Stock products do not include a factory warranty unless the individual listing specifically states otherwise. Please contact me before ordering if you have questions about the warranty on a particular item.
Factory-new clocks may be returned within seven days of delivery only if the manufacturer’s product packaging remains unopened and the clock and its internal packing materials have not been removed, handled, or disturbed.
Approved refunds are reduced by the original outbound shipping cost and a 10% restocking fee. The customer is responsible for return shipping.
If a factory-new product arrives damaged or defective, we will first work with the manufacturer to provide a replacement at no cost to the customer. If the replacement is declined, the standard return terms apply.
Pre-Order and Special Order products have separate return conditions and are final sale. Please review the complete Refund Policy and the individual product listing before purchasing.
No. Pre-Order and Special Order clocks are ordered specifically for the customer and require us to commit non-refundable funds to the manufacturer.
Pre-Order clocks require us to pay a 50% non-refundable manufacturer deposit. Special Order clocks require payment in full at checkout. Both are final sale and cannot be canceled, returned, exchanged, or refunded once ordered.
Estimated production and delivery timeframes are approximate and may change due to manufacturer or shipping delays. Shipping damage and manufacturing defects will still be handled through the applicable shipping claim or manufacturer’s warranty.
Vintage, antique, and pre-owned clocks are older pieces and are sold as-is and are not returnable unless the individual listing specifically states otherwise. Their condition, operation, timekeeping, strike, and chime functions are described based on testing performed before shipment.
When a listing states that a movement has been “cleaned and oiled,” it means the movement has received basic clock service to help it operate properly. It does not mean the clock has received a complete mechanical overhaul or restoration unless specifically stated.
Mechanical clocks can require minor setup or adjustment after delivery. Shipping, leveling, pendulum installation, humidity, and changes in environment can affect their operation. Shipping damage will be handled through the applicable insured shipping claim.
No. Pre-Order and Special Order clocks are ordered specifically for the customer and require us to make non-refundable financial commitments to the manufacturer.
Special Order clocks require payment in full at checkout. Both Pre-Order and Special Order purchases are final sale and cannot be canceled, returned, exchanged, or refunded once ordered.
Estimated production and delivery timeframes are approximate and may change due to manufacturer or shipping delays. Shipping damage and manufacturing defects will still be handled through the applicable shipping claim or manufacturer’s warranty.
Qualifying U.S. orders of $99 or more receive free insured shipping with tracking.
Clock movements ship for a flat-rate fee of $20, and vintage clocks are subject to the shipping terms shown in their individual listings. Any applicable shipping charge will be clearly displayed at checkout.
Every order is shipped fully insured. If your item arrives damaged, please contact me as soon as possible. Do not discard the shipping box, packing materials, or shipping label, and do not attempt to repair or return the item unless instructed to do so.
Please provide your order number and clear photographs of:
- The exterior of the shipping box, including all visible damage
- The shipping label
- The interior packing materials
- The entire purchased item
- Close-up images of each damaged area
Keep all packaging until the claim has been resolved, as the shipping carrier or insurance provider may require an inspection.
I will handle the claim and coordinate the appropriate next steps. Depending on the product and its availability, the resolution may include repair, replacement, or a refund.
UPS may require a visual inspection and may retrieve the item and its packaging as part of the claims process. Please be aware that UPS claims may take approximately 1–10 weeks to investigate and resolve. This timeframe is controlled by UPS and may vary depending on the circumstances of the claim.
A quartz clock is powered by a battery and generally requires less maintenance. Quartz clocks may be time-only or may include electronically produced chimes, melodies, motion, or other features.
A mechanical clock is powered by springs or weights and must be wound by a key, crank, or the raising of its weights. Mechanical clocks use traditional movements containing gears, springs, escapements, and other mechanical components. Many also include mechanical strike or chime functions.
A triple chime clock allows the owner to choose between three different chime melodies, commonly Westminster, Whittington, and St. Michael. The exact melodies and available settings are listed on the individual product page.
Automatic night shut-off is a feature that silences the clock’s chime or strike during preset overnight hours. The exact silencing schedule varies by movement and model.
In addition to factory-new and vintage clocks, Just A Clock Collector offers replacement clock movements, barometers, weather instruments, nautical products, music boxes, automata, singing bird boxes, decorative accessories, and other distinctive mechanical and specialty pieces.
If you are looking for a particular model or product from one of the brands I represent and do not see it listed, please contact me. I may be able to source it through an authorized manufacturer or distributor. Availability, pricing, and lead times vary by item.
