Can't Find Your Movement?

If your original Hermle, Kieninger or Urgos movement is obsolete or no longer available, it may not need to be replaced. Our ButterBearing® Clock Movement Rebuild Service can professionally rebuild eligible original mechanical movements, with patented ball bearings, new bushings as needed, a 3-year warranty and approximately 2-week turnaround.

Replacement Urgos Clock Movements and Old-to-New Conversions

Urgos mechanical clock movements were installed in many grandfather clocks, floor clocks, wall clocks, and other weight-driven timepieces. Although numerous older Urgos movement numbers are no longer produced in their original form, current replacement movements are available for many of them.

This collection includes replacement Urgos clock movements and compatible current models for restoring clocks with worn, damaged, or discontinued movements. Each product page includes specifications and, where applicable, a Replaces These Movement Numbers section showing older Urgos numbers associated with that replacement.

Understanding Urgos Movement Numbers

The movement number is normally stamped into the brass back plate of the existing movement. Depending on its age, an Urgos number may appear in formats such as:

  • UW32001 or UW32/1
  • UW3/1 or UW3/12
  • UW03053 or UW03101
  • UW32319 or UW32319N
  • UW66002 or UW66020

Older and newer numbering systems can look considerably different even when one movement replaced another. Some current Urgos replacement numbers also include an N suffix, such as UW32319N, UW32320N, UW32325N, UW32326N, or UW32363N. The complete number matters and should be compared carefully before ordering.

Customers searching for an old Urgos movement number can enter that number into our website search. When a verified replacement is available in our catalog, the corresponding current movement should appear in the results.

Choosing the Correct Urgos Replacement Movement

Matching the number is the first step, but it may not be the only requirement. Urgos movements with similar numbers can differ in important ways, including:

  • Pendulum length
  • Chain or cable drive
  • Westminster or triple-chime configuration
  • Hammer arrangement
  • Hand-shaft length
  • Plate dimensions
  • Weight requirements
  • Chime shutoff position
  • Seat-board and mounting requirements

Some replacements fit with minimal adjustment. Others may require changes to the dial, hands, pendulum assembly, hammer arrangement, gong, seat board, or other installation components. The exact stamped number and physical configuration of the existing movement should always be verified.

Can an Older Urgos Movement Be Replaced?

In many cases, yes. A current replacement movement can often return a well-built clock to dependable operation while preserving its original case, dial, pendulum, weights, and character.

A factory-new replacement may be a practical alternative when the original movement is heavily worn, damaged, missing parts, or no longer economical to rebuild. With proper installation and maintenance, a quality replacement mechanical movement can provide decades of additional service.

However, an old-to-new conversion reference does not automatically guarantee a direct fit in every clock. When the original chart identifies multiple possible replacements or notes that modifications may be required, the product information will advise you to verify the applicable configuration rather than guess.

Urgos Movement Identification Help

Before requesting assistance, please provide:

  • A clear photograph of the entire movement back plate
  • Close-up photographs of every stamped number
  • A photograph of the complete clock
  • A photograph of the dial and winding holes
  • Photographs of the pendulum, weights, hammers, and chime rods
  • The approximate clock-case height
  • The chime melody, if known

Use our movement identification and quote form if you are uncertain which replacement is appropriate. You can also browse all replacement clock movements or consult our Seth Thomas Clock Movement Replacement Guide for older Seth Thomas movement numbers.

Professional installation is recommended whenever a replacement requires mounting changes, hand fitting, weight verification, gong repositioning, or other clock-specific adjustments.
