The Bear Clock brings the wildlife of the Black Forest directly into the chalet scene. Bears move through the undergrowth beneath tall fir trees, and bears and marmots appear as the musical display unfolds. The mill wheel, dancers and woodland figures make this one of the collection's most playful nature-inspired clocks.
Movement, sound and animation
The mechanical 8-day movement runs for a week between windings. Its 22-note music box plays Edelweiss and The Happy Wanderer while the bears, marmots, mill wheel and dancers animate the scene. The cuckoo calls on the hour and half hour, and the automatic night shut-off keeps evenings quiet.
Handcrafted in the Black Forest
The linden-wood case is painted, fitted and assembled by hand in Gütenbach, Germany. Natural variations in wood grain, color and figures are part of the character of a handmade clock, so no two examples are exactly alike. The mechanical movement carries the VdS certificate of authenticity for genuine Black Forest origin, materials and manufacture and is covered by a 24-month movement warranty.
