Bahnhäusle 1885 honors the architectural form that helped define the traditional cuckoo clock. Its steep gable recalls the railway keepers' houses of the Black Forest Railway, a design that has shaped cuckoo clocks for more than 170 years. Standing 68 cm high, this is a commanding carved clock intended to become the focal point of a room.
Movement, sound and animation
The mechanical 8-day movement runs for a full week between windings. Its fuller 36-note music box plays Edelweiss and The Happy Wanderer, accompanied by dancing figures beneath the dial. The cuckoo sounds on the hour and half hour, while an automatic night shut-off quiets the call and music in the evening.
Handcrafted in the Black Forest
The linden-wood case is painted, fitted and assembled by hand in Gütenbach, Germany. Natural variations in wood grain, color and figures are part of the character of a handmade clock, so no two examples are exactly alike. The mechanical movement carries the VdS certificate of authenticity for genuine Black Forest origin, materials and manufacture and is covered by a 24-month movement warranty.
