Avis Silvae draws its character from the natural warmth of the wood. Seven finely worked leaves frame the dial, while a bird poised for flight crowns the carved case. The walnut-brown finish keeps the design restrained and traditional, allowing the carving and grain to take center stage.

Movement, sound and animation

The mechanical 1-day movement is wound each day by raising the pinecone weights. The cuckoo calls on the hour and half hour through the traditional bellows-and-pipe mechanism, accompanied by the motion of the pendulum. This model has no music box and includes a manual shut-off for quiet periods.

Handcrafted in the Black Forest

The linden-wood case is painted, fitted and assembled by hand in Gütenbach, Germany. Natural variations in wood grain, color and figures are part of the character of a handmade clock, so no two examples are exactly alike. The mechanical movement carries the VdS certificate of authenticity for genuine Black Forest origin, materials and manufacture and is covered by a 24-month movement warranty.
