Woodchopper’s Son depicts a small working scene outside a Black Forest chalet. A woodchopper swings his axe beside the log pile, the mill wheel turns and a dancing couple appears on the balcony. The different activities give model MT 565/9 a lively character, with something to follow as the cuckoo and music bring the house to life.
The chalet measures 32 cm high, 27 cm wide and 20 cm deep. It offers the animation and music of a traditional chalet without the scale of the larger 8-day houses. The woodchopper and wheel provide a clear focal point, while the balcony figures add movement higher in the composition.
Daily winding, music and animation
The mechanical 1-day movement requires daily winding. The cuckoo calls on the hour and half hour, and the music box alternates between Edelweiss and The Happy Wanderer after the call. The moving woodchopper, mill wheel and dancers create an animated display. Automatic night shut-off silences the clock at night.

Handcrafted in the Black Forest, Woodchopper’s Son carries the VdS certificate for genuine mechanical Black Forest clocks. Allow clear space beneath the chalet for the pendulum and weights. Its daily winding routine, familiar melodies and miniature working scene make it a clock to interact with as well as display.
