Howard Miller 630-112 Presidential Collection Triple Chime Bracket Clock | Hermle Movement
This exceptional Howard Miller 630-112 Presidential Collection bracket-style mantel clock combines traditional English bracket-clock styling with the precision and rich sound of a German mechanical movement.
Made in the USA in 1996, the clock features a beautifully proportioned wood case with warm mahogany-toned veneers, decorative inlaid banding, polished brass bun feet, a shaped brass carrying handle, and a hinged beveled-glass front door. Its substantial architectural case gives it the commanding presence associated with classic bracket clocks while remaining ideally sized for a mantel, console, bookcase, or executive office.
The elaborate Presidential Collection dial is especially impressive. Raised gold-tone Arabic numerals surround a silver chapter ring decorated with fine floral detailing, while pierced brass scrollwork reveals portions of the mechanical movement behind the dial. Ornate black hands complete the formal presentation.
Inside is a German-made Hermle 1050-020 eight-day mechanical movement bearing the Howard Miller name. The movement carries Hermle date code “I,” identifying its manufacture as 1996.
This premium movement offers a choice of three traditional chime melodies:
Westminster
Whittington
St. Michael
The clock plays progressive quarter-hour chimes and strikes the hour on a bank of eight resonant chime rods. A silent setting allows the chimes to be turned off when desired. Its balance-wheel escapement eliminates the need for a pendulum, making the clock practical for placement on a mantel or furniture surface.
Howard Miller’s Presidential Collection represented a more ornate and traditionally styled level of production, and this model beautifully demonstrates that approach. Its impressive cabinetry, highly decorative dial, triple-chime movement, and elegant bracket-clock profile make it a standout example.
