Offered here is an authentic early-20th-century Seth Thomas mechanical alarm mantel clock, dating to approximately 1900–1915, freshly cleaned and oiled and running beautifully.
This substantial cast-metal (spelter) clock features a classic round dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds at 12, and a separate alarm-setting sub-dial at 6, with a front-mounted ALARM / SILENT control lever. These clocks were designed for prominent placement on a mantel or shelf — practical, powerful, and unmistakably American in character.
The original paper dial shows attractive, even age crazing consistent with over a century of life. The movement runs strong, keeps good time, and the alarm functions exactly as intended.
