Franz Hermle Mechanical Skeleton Mantel Clock – Bell Strike – Made in Germany
An exceptional Franz Hermle 791-081 mechanical skeleton mantel clock in truly mint condition.
Crafted in Germany by Franz Hermle, this elegant mechanical clock showcases the beauty of traditional clockmaking with its exposed brass movement displayed behind glass on the front and both sides of the richly finished hardwood case. Every turn of the gears and swing of the polished brass pendulum can be enjoyed from nearly every angle, making this clock as captivating to watch as it is to display.
The silver-tone Roman numeral chapter ring is complemented by ornate black hands and decorative minute markers, creating a timeless appearance against the brilliant brass movement. At the top of the movement, a polished brass bell provides a pleasant hourly strike, adding to the clock’s traditional charm.
The arched hardwood case features a rich mahogany finish accented with polished brass columns, brass feet, and an elegant brass carrying ring. A hinged glass front door provides easy access for winding and setting the clock while beautifully showcasing the movement inside.
This example is in truly mint condition and appears to have been exceptionally well cared for. The wood finish is rich and vibrant, the brass movement and decorative accents remain bright and clean, and the glass panels are crystal clear. It has been tested and is running and striking properly. Examples this clean are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
The movement is marked:
